I was looking at some of your  Everclear tabs and the intro to unemployed 
boyfriend is a little off. The first and second chord is right ( G & c9 ) as 
well as the fourth (back to the C9) but the third one has to go. It had me 
for a little while but i knew it was an Em of some sort. Try playin an open 
Em and the 1st string on the 2nd fret together then go to the C9. I'm pretty 
sure thats it.

third chord .  I used to think its was some sorta "B" or "D" too? but i
figured it is a "Em9"  as shown below-->

I saw all the chords for the intro down on the bottom, and only one made it close,
the 076077 at the very bottom. I worked along with this (totally by ear, I heard 
the song earlier today, it was stuck in my head and i wanted to learn it) and took 
out my electric and messed with it. You can tell the note on the D string
is off, and the one on the high E sticks out too much. This is what I've
done, please evaluate it and see what sounds closest of everyone's interpretation:

hey jason,
          my name's sam from england, i was looking over your everclear tabs 
the other day and i noticed all that confusion over the main riff to 
unemployed boyfriend, well i'm here to set the record straight they're all 
wrong, the song is actually played as follows:

g5  3x0033    c9  x32033    em9  x7x077    c9  x32033

that's how it's done, that other guy said the third chord should be played   
  x75077,    that's acceptable but not the proper way ,  the problem with 
that being if the d or g string goes slightly out of tune you get that weird 
echoe-y sound from where the strings aren't vibrating at the exact same 
pitch,   i'm so certain i'll state my reputation on it ,  not that i have 
one but maybe i'll gain one from proving those that came before me wrong.

Ok, all of them are wrong. Yeah yeah, it's been said by everyone else. But, I 
have a good source though: official song book! The closest anyone came to the 
chord was Scott Ryan with 076077. But that's still not right. The chord shown 
in the song book is as follows:

Kind of like a C9, moved up a few frets. With the exception of asking Art 
himself, this is as close as you'll get.

UPDATE 1/2/02 - I sent you an email awhile ago about the chord that everyone is bickering 
about in this song and I said this was as close as you could get to asking Art himself...well, I 
did at a concert this last summer and he said that is the chord that he uses. 
If the others wish to argue with the guy that wrote the song, it's their 
right!

 For "Unemployed Boyfriend" the chord is nothing hard at all. Its 
just like the move from G to C by moving the index and middle fingers each 
down one string but go one more to make an F. I'm not sure what the chord is 
called but it's easy and when played with the album it sounds perfect or very 
close to perfect at least.

chord of "Unemployed Boyfriend" Your troubles are over, because I figured it out. It's actually x75x50,
